Francis Botchway is the Sir William Blair Chair in Alternative Dispute Resolution at Qatar University, College of Law. He served as Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies from 2011 - 2016. He teaches and researches in International Investment Law, Natural Resources Law, Anglo-American Legal Systems, and Arbitration and Negotiations. He has also taught at the University of Warwick Law School and Hull University in the UK. Formerly, he was Adjunct Professor at Leuven University in Belgium, Warwick, KNUST and Visiting Professor at the University of Puerto Rico. He was a Consultant at Conservation International in Washington. He is consulted by law firms in the UK and the US. Governments, institutions and International Organizations also consult him on varied subjects, particularly in International Investment, Natural Resources and in Environmental Law. He has published books and articles in leading International journals in Europe, United States, Australia and Africa. His latest edited book is Natural Resource Investment and Africa’s Development published by Edward Elgar. His forthcoming book is entitled Defences in International Investment Law to be published by Routledge, UK.
