About Us

AILA is a not-for-profit company that organises and delivers training in investment treaty law and arbitration to lawyers from across Africa and to those with an interest in African investment, aimed at increasing legal awareness amongst local lawyers advising their governments or investors on international investment agreements.

The sessions are delivered in London over a week of intensive training by an ad hoc team of eminent investment arbitration practitioners, professors and arbitrators from various parts of Europe (
The Faculty).  AILA will work in partnership with African governments to identify their needs and the most suitable lawyers to attend training. The goal is to deliver this training on an annual basis.

The annual
Programme will cover core aspects of investment treaty law and the resolution of disputes by arbitration.

AILA is also able to deliver training tailored to the specific needs of an African country either in the UK or in-country.

The tuition fee (£485.00) is waived for African lawyers who meet the criteria.  For criteria and application, please click here.
